Tomasik Kotin Kasserman Files Case on Behalf of Family of Woman Who Was Crushed to Death By an SUV Outside Northfield Restaurant

Chicago, Illinois (May 30, 2019) – Tomasik Kotin Kasserman, LLC has filed a lawsuit in the Circuit Court of Cook County against a man from Glenview. Jackie Wittleder had just exited the front door of Stormy’s Restaurant and walked between an SUV and another parked car when the SUV's driver backed up and ran her over. After knocking her to the ground, he negligently continued to back the rear wheel onto her leg and stopped, leaving her leg pinned between the tire and the ground, until witnesses screamed and yelled and finally got him to move his SUV off of Ms. Wittleder. “Jackie Wittleder was needlessly endangered and killed by a careless driver. We filed the suit on behalf of the family after a thorough investigation,” said Timothy S. Tomasik, Partner at Tomasik Kotin Kasserman handling the matter. “This tragedy should never have happened. The driver simply wasn’t paying attention. The 2017 luxury Infiniti SUV was fully equipped with a camera and audible sensors that were designed to protect victims like Jackie. The driver simply failed to pay attention in a busy parking lot outside a well-known local restaurant. This was preventable.”

Jacquelyn A. Wittleder of Northfield suffered injuries to her left leg, severely crushing it and breaking numerous bones and ultimately causing her death.
